Explain your career path—how did you become a Payroll Specialist?

I decided to study accounting because I have always loved numbers and (for some strange reason) I also find taxes super interesting. In my first role in the financial department of a technology company, I realized that the part I really enjoyed was the chance to connect with and learn from a lot of people. My next role was at a tech company where I managed the payroll for more than 9000 employees over five years.

Can you describe your personal self?

I would describe myself as a curious, enthusiastic and positive person. I love discovering new places, people and different ways of thinking and doing things.

What are your top personal values and how do you apply those to your work?

My top personal values are:

  • Resilience to face any situation

  • Empathy to understand the situation of each person

  • Integrity not only at work but in all aspects of my life

Why did you choose to come to The Launch Box?

I have always chosen to work for organizations that help create a better world. When I discovered The Launch Box and understood its purpose, it seemed like the ideal place not only to contribute but also to learn.

What is a common misconception you hear about Payroll and Accounting?

Many people think that in payroll/accounting, you always do the same thing. In reality, different things happen each period and there are different ways to solve various challenges, so you never stop learning.

What is the most fulfilling part of your role at TLB?

One fulfilling thing about finance roles is that the outcome of your work is very measurable. I think it is very rewarding to see how my work impacts the ability of our founders to make better decisions.

What about the future of TLB are you most excited about?

I’m excited to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals while learning from so many passionate people.
