The Launch Box Life with Eduardo García

At The Launch Box, we are entrepreneurs serving entrepreneurs, but we took very different journeys to get here. In this series, readers will learn more about how we each live #thelaunchboxlife every day.

Eduardo is the global finance & ops manager, with eight of professional experience in Sourcing, Consulting, Project and Program Management, and Finance. His passion is to always be helpful, something he achieves in a professional environment by offering his analytical proficiency to all areas and professionals he works with.

Explain your career path—how did you become the global finance & ops manager?

My career path has been very diverse. In my early career I was a BI developer, an SAP consultant, and a project manager – and even took some time to try to start my own restaurant – before I decided to find something that allowed me to use all the skills I had built along the way.

I joined a firm called Kalypso in 2017 as a Project Controller and immediately fell in love with finance. Through my journey, I’ve also discovered that I need to do meaningful work that has an impact, so when I got the chance to join The Launch Box, I knew that working with startups would give me that chance.

Can you describe your personal self?

Sure! I’m a passionate person that enjoys activities such as cooking, grilling, spending time with my loved ones, playing video games and just thinking of new activities to do. I’m also a nerd about movies and music - my girlfriend says I’m a Wikipedia (only for useless facts though!) and a human calculator. I love our cat, Mia, and my dog, Pedrita, who lives back at my parents’ house

What are your top personal values and how do you apply those to your work?

I’m very driven, honest, and loyal, and I expect others to be the same way toward me. I always try to reach the middle ground and find a position in which everyone wins. I also hate playing the blame game and will often take the blame just to get rid of any possible gridlocks.

Why did you choose to come to The Launch Box?

It was a no-brainer. My role here is very similar to what I used to do at Kalypso, while still being a small firm where I can leave my mark and make a big difference by doing a good job.

What is a common misconception you hear about consulting?

Consultants only give advice. Good consultants are true business partners who strive to help their clients – often when they face significant challenges themselves.

What is the most fulfilling part of your role at TLB?

I like knowing that everything I do has a meaning and that it will leave a positive impact on multiple firms.

What about the future of TLB are you most excited about?

I’m excited about growing the finance and ops teams and working together with the leadership of our client firms to achieve the best results.
