The Launch Box Life with Diego Ancira Grover

At The Launch Box, we are entrepreneurs serving entrepreneurs, but we took very different journeys to get here. In this series, learn more about how we each live #thelaunchboxlife every day.

Diego has worked in Talent Acquisition and Human Resources for the past 8+ years. During that time, he had the chance to work with teams in the US, UK, and LatAm at several companies, including Revolut, Flex, AstraZeneca, and HPE. He has led two company hiring ramps, market knowledge with niche skill positions and several Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) for women in tech and mental health awareness.

Explain your career path—how did you become Leader of Talent Acquisition for The Launch Box?

It has been a roller-coaster! I started my professional career in Learning and Development which gave me the chance to work with amazing coworkers, and after a few years, I grew fond of the different areas of Human Resources transitioning into an HRBP (human resources business partner) role where I noticed a need to improve Talent Acquisition processes.

To be honest, at the beginning I thought Talent Acquisition/Recruitment was going to be easy, and oh surprise it was really challenging! The level of attention to detail is very high, and managing multiple tasks at the same time is no easy job. But definitely, it’s so rewarding when you see the people you once interviewed joining as your peers.

Can you describe your personal self?

I see myself as a results-driven and empathic person, trying to put myself in somebody else’s shoes. I really enjoy presenting my ideas through numbers because they give me a chance to tell a story. I value the chance to learn from the amazing people I work with and share my knowledge back with my team.

What are your top personal values and how do you apply those to your work?

  • Passion – do what you love and love what you do.

  • Kindness – Always remember we are all humans, it’s okay to ask questions and its ok to not know something

  • Resiliency – No matter what, even the worst will pass, give your best and never give up.

Why did you come to The Launch Box?

During my interview process, I saw how the people here interacted with each other, and just made me feel at peace. Also, the huge potential that the firm has is exciting, and I enjoy the chance to interact with multiple client organizations. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something new and achieve what you want to do.

What is a common misconception you hear about talent acquisition?

Probably the most common one is that we don’t hire people after a certain age, and unfortunately in some firms this still happens. I always see the value of people in their skills, work enthusiasm, and ability to adapt, no matter who they are or how long they’ve been in the workforce. I will always advocate for giving everyone a chance to prove themselves.

What is the most fulfilling part of your role at The Launch Box?

I really love helping people to find their dream job, and seeing people’s faces when they get an offer. Working with the best of the best like my peers Karla Oros, Lauren Darby, Amy Kenly, and Aja Shoates just to say a few of course! Everyone is amazing!

What is the most exciting thing about future of The Launch Box?

We really have an innovative business model, so I am most excited to see how we grow, to watch our people reach their goals, and to help new people join their next adventure with us or one of our client firms. This is more than a job - it’s a lifestyle.
